Why Blog, what’s my motivation?

Blogging and writing in general is a real passion of mine, I wanted a place where I had control over my content as an outlet for solving some of life’s problems as well as sharing opinions, and if I can make some money from it, that would be good as well. 

This blog is meant to be a place where I write about and give my insights into Digital Parenting, work culture, technology and its impact on Health & Well-being in a fast-moving digital world.

For me, it’s all about giving back and sharing valuable insights and experiences.

I am an experienced senior technology executive with a strong focus on strategy, risk, governance, delivery, and security. I can create a climate for adopting change and technologies to enhance customer engagement, simplify business processes, and grow revenue.  I have a strong sense of risk and governance which comes from working with fellow executives, and on boards as well as establishing and leading large programmes of work (up to $20m). As part of all roles, I aim to build strong operational, data and technology foundations to enable innovation and the adoption of new technologies.

I constantly look for ways of doing things better, increasing revenue and optimising processes to improve the way business functions as well as driving a customer-first culture. I have managed large IT and Technology teams (as a Head of Technology, CIO and CTO) with responsibility for complex and 24/7 critical systems.  I specialise in IT team functional review and change management, as well as Cybersecurity, and IT/Operations good practices.

Leading and Modernising IT – CIO/CTO/CISO

I lead by example and aim to win the hearts and minds of those around me through a collaborative and engaging servant leadership style that creates empowered and highly motivated teams that deliver results and feel free to innovate.

I have been fortunate enough to have held several senior leadership roles in industries such as local and central government, education, healthcare, electricity utilities, geotechnical engineering, telecommunications (Wi-Fi, ISP), travel/tourism, not-for-profit, software (Health and Government registries), media (SVOD, radio and OOH) and IT outsourcing (networking/security and IT MSP).  I have created and executed strategic initiatives/plans encompassing innovative solutions as part of a collaborative approach to ongoing delivery and transformation.

Sharing Insights & Guest Writer

On several occasions, I have been asked to share my experiences/insights with startups and larger organisations, advising them on digital operations, customer channels, IT service management, DevOps, strategy, technologies, delivery methodologies and working with SaaS-based solutions.

I have been a top-ranked CIO/CTO with specialties in cybersecurity, and IT/Operations Service Management practices (ITIL) supporting various GTM approaches, and has been recognised as one of the top 100 IT Global Service Management Influencers.  A regular contributor to the NZ IT industry as a speaker, blogger and writer and has appeared on numerous webinars,  podcasts and guest publications with Sumologic, BTOES Insights, and BMC.
